Active validators is the count of validators in the active set securing QRL 2.0's Proof-of-Stake consensus each day. More validators generally means a more decentralised and resilient network. QRL 2.0-only — the Proof-of-Work chain has miners, not validators.

FAQ about this chart
Common questions about this page+
What does active validators count?
It counts the validators in the active set on each day — those currently eligible to propose and attest blocks on QRL 2.0's beacon chain. It excludes validators that are pending activation, exited, or slashed.
Why does the validator count matter?
A larger, growing validator set generally indicates a more decentralised and resilient network: consensus is spread across more independent participants. Read it together with the validator-Nakamoto coefficient, which captures how evenly stake is distributed across those validators.
Why is this QRL 2.0 only?
Validators exist only on the Proof-of-Stake chain (QRL 2.0). The original chain is Proof-of-Work, secured by miners rather than a validator set, so there is no equivalent count to show.
